How to Sign In and Out of Yahoo! Messenger

here are several options for signing in and signing out with Yahoo! Messenger. Set Messenger to open when your computer boots up or do it yourself. All it takes is a few clicks to arrange the settings.

Instructions

Sign In Manually

  • 1
Open Yahoo! Instant Messenger by double clicking on the icon for Messenger. A screen opens up asking for your Yahoo! ID and password.

  • 2
Type in your ID without adding the "@yahoo.com" that you use for email.

  • 3
Sign in as "invisible" if you want to use your Messenger account without anyone knowing you are on. Choose "Sign in automatically" if you are not on a public computer and you don't want to type in your ID and password every time; select "Sign In" when you are finished making your choices.

  • 4
Click the "X" in the upper right-hand corner to make the window disappear. Keep in mind that this does not sign you out of Yahoo! Instant Messenger.

  • 5
Sign out of Messenger by clicking the word "Messenger" on the upper left-hand corner of your Messenger window then choose "Sign Out" and choose "Yes" on the pop-up window asking if you really want to exit.
