How To Send an Email in Yahoo

A few things you should notice about the form
  1. There is scroll bar next to the from address field. This allows you to choose the sender address as it is possible to have multiple email addresses/accounts associated with a Yahoo account. The default email address appears (can be set as part of mail options).
  2. The to and cc fields are shown by default but you can turn on the Bcc. See Using bcc in emails for an explanation of this field.
  3. The default message editor is HTML but you can send a plain text message by clicking the plain text link.
2. Enter an email address in the To field (mandatory) and if necessary the Cc and Bcc fields. If you want to send to more than one person you need to separate the addresses with commas. e.g. jdoe1@abc.com,jdoe2@abc.com,jdoe3@abc.com.
There is maximum limit of 100. If you regularly send emails to multiple users then consider using a category. Instead of typing in the email addresses you can also use nicknames or select them from the address book.
If any of you contacts are in the address book you can save yourself the typing and select them from the address book.
To do this  place the mouse pointer over the To, Cc or Bcc label ( the pointer becomes a hand) and click. You can need to check the appropriate To, Cc, Bcc box next to the contact name or names and when finished click the insert checked contacts button.

3. Enter a subject and then type in your Message. If you have attachments they can be added by clicking the attach files button. By default 5 attachments are shown but you can attach more by clicking the attach more files link. Total message size is limited to 25MB but you should note that although Yahoo allows the size of message it may be blocked by other carriers (see sending Large attachments).

4. You can spell check the message by clicking the abc button in the top left of the message tool bar.

Don't forget to hit the close button or the message can't be sent.
5. Then either save it in the drafts folder or send by clicking the send button.
Click send to send the message. You should receive a confirmation screen saying the message was sent with the option of adding the address into your contacts if not already present.

6.If you get an error message  then correct the mistake and click send again.

NOTES

Cc stands for carbon copy : Anyone listed here will get a copy of the message and anyone who receives the message will know who else the message was sent to.
Bcc Blind carbon copy: Anyone listed here will get a copy of the message but anyone who receives the message will not know that the person(s) on the Bcc line were sent the message. It is recommended that you always use this field when sending messages to confidential mailing lists.
nicknames: When you add a contact to the address book you enter a contact name and a contact address. The contact name is called the nick name and can be used in place of the contact email address. Before the email is sent the system will substitute the email address in place of the nickname.
Category: Categories are the Yahoo term for a mailing list. A category is a group of email addresses. Categoriesare useful when you frequently need to send email to many people at once. When you send an email to a mailing list (Category) the system will automatically send the email to each member of the list .
If you want to keep your list membership private then send to the list using the Bcc field.
